Five countries from the Americas, nine from Africa, ten from Asia and almost each country from Europe have one mutual goal. We work in an international environment, but according to the ‘think globally, act locally’ motto, we follow a policy of local recruitment. As a result, we are close to our customers, but we also contribute to the development of the labour market in the regions where we operate. Because of our foreign acquisitions, the structures of our company combine different organisational cultures. Companies Grammer Office and Rohde&Grahl from Germany, Sitag from Switzerland and Stylis from Dubai were joined this year by other well-known foreign brands: German Kusch+Co and French Majencia, bringing in more employees who represent new places on the map.
– We look at our employees’ various cultures, languages, knowledge and experience as a treasure of our organisation. But such a nationally diverse group of employees is also a challenge, especially in terms of communication. One of our initiatives supporting employee integration and communication are onboarding events – says Marek Amrogowicz, Deputy Director of Nowy Styl Group’s HR Department.
We make every effort to ensure our employees share a similar level of knowledge and integrate with each other, by holding regular meetings and ongoing collaboration. In our Sustainability Report, which sums up the years 2016-2017, we committed ourselves to developing communication with our foreign employees. Therefore, Nowy Styl Group holds international onboarding events. At the most recent one, a group of employees from the different markets had the opportunity to see how the company operates from the inside, for example by watching how our products are made.
– The onboarding process allows new employees to become familiar with the structure of the company, to know the scale and areas of our business and the directions of Nowy Styl Group’s development. By actively participating in training and workshops, they learn about our history and structure, our customers and the scope of our operations. In addition, new employees can get to know and understand the organisational culture and values we follow. We plan to hold this type of onboarding events regularly, once every four months – says Katarzyna Marszałek, Training and Onboarding Coordinator at Nowy Styl Group.
In addition to talks and workshops, the participants also visited the factories in Rzepedź and Jasło, to get a complete view of the production process. As a result, they became familiar with the new company more quickly, which resulted in their greater engagement from the very beginning of their employment. It was also an opportunity for intercultural networking and to get to know each other better: the event was attended by our employees from the Czech Republic, Germany, France, Hungary, the Arab Emirates and other countries.
